Hebden Moor Mines, Wharfedale, North Pennines, North Yorkshire, England, UK

UK Grid Reference: SE056671
Latitude: 54°5'58"N
Longitude: 1°54'51"W
Area of lead workings run by the Freeholders of Hebden Moor to the east of the Duke of Devonshire's royalty at Grassington.
Some of the veins worked were extensions of those worked at Grassington and included Hebden Moor Bycliffe, Coal Hole=Middle, Red Scar, Star and Cockbur veins.
The grid reference supplied is for Game Ing Level the other more major productive level being Red Scar Level (SE056666). Various other shafts and shallow workings were exploited and two major exploratory levels were driven, Yorke Level (SE05526528) and Hebden Trial Level (SE02836297). Although neither of the two trial levels met with success, Dunham surmises that had the Hebden Trial been continued it might have opened up the whole concealed area of mineralisation in the Grassington Grit beneath the intra-Pendleian unconformity.
That's wot it says 'ere, anyway!
