Abandoned mine that worked the Proterozoic Ironwood banded iron formation. The mine was operational between 1905 and 1932, producing about 172,000 tons of ore. The workings extended to a depth of about 2,367 feet. As of this writing,( 2014) it was the only mine on the Wisconsin Gogebic Range with a head frame still standing, and is preserved as an historic site.
