A small mine referred to by the name of the main stream of the valley. Also known as Ty'n y Llwyn after the farm on whose land it lies, Sovereign Mine after the Sovereign Gold Mining Company who owned the mine until 1865, and also by the corruptions Wnion and Union.
Wrin intermittently but persistently worked an almost barren lode between 1863 and 1900. Recorded output is 100 tons of gold ore producing 2 ounces of gold in 1889, and 10 tons of gold ore producing 1 ounce of gold in 1893.
