Although jointly worked, the Cwmhesian mines are not a single set of workings, the east and west mines being about 1000 yards apart.
Primarily a lead mine, Cwmheisian West Mine was active in the 1840s and worked intermittently until the 1890s. There is no record of gold production (although production may be included with that from the apparently more productive Cwmheisian West Mine.
