The Evje-Iveland area is famous for its pegmatite minerals. See also the Iveland entry: http://www.mindat.org/loc-32512.html.
In old references and labels this area has also been refered to as Setesdalen (Setesdal), which is the valley along the river Otra. Evje & Hornes and Iveland municipalities are the 2 southernmost municipalities (of totalt 5) in this valley.

The pegmatites are enriched in REE and have originated at ca. 600°C (Müller et al., 2009).
