Cambrian Mine (Taincynhauaf), Llanelltyd, Dolgellau Gold Belt, Gwynedd (Merionethshire), Wales, UK

UK Grid Reference: SH692195
Latitude: 52°45'24"N
Longitude: 3°56'18"W
The lodes at Cambrian Mine (also known as Taincynhauaf after the farm where the working are located) run along the crest of the slope overlooking the Mawddach estuary. A shaft was sunk on the lode to an adit some 150 feet lower down.

Zinc and lead minerals are dominant although gold was found in small ammounts associated with the galena, or coating slatey inclusions.

Cambrian was first worked for lead, probably in the 1850s and although considerable sums were spent re-equipting the mine for gold production in 1854, gold yields were disappointing.

Working was intermittent and the mine was finally abandoned in 1905, the final owners from 1899 being the St David's Mining Development Company Ltd.

Fifty tons of gold ore are recorded as being raised during the period 1864-65 yielding 30 ounces of gold.
