Very low temperature, young veins in Pleistocene rhyolitic tuff. Attempted mining for manganese from 1939 to 1942 produced 520 tons of pyrolusite ore with 54% Mn, 1.3% Fe and 0.75% As, but the arsenic content makes it unsuitable for many purposes. Located at 3700m elevation, very close to the border of Chile, 8 km NNE of Cosca village.
