The San Francisco mine worked magnesioriebeckitic asbestos during the 1940s. Several independent workings are spread out along about 1.6km of the Cristalmayu valley, now mostly overgrown with rainforest jungle.
NB: Often given in the literature as the type locality for povondraite (formerly called "ferridravite"), but that species and its associated minerals came from the Locotal Breccia, a different rock unit a few hundred metres outside the mine.
