Wagholi the name is derived from the temple of 'WAGHESHWAR' which is on the entrance to this mining complex 20 km north of Pune.
Wagh in the local language 'marathi' means tiger.
There are a dozen quarries here out of which 3-4 produce good cavansite and pentagonite specimens.
