Ridgeview Quarry is situated on the properties Bellair 823 and Cato Manor 812 in the Umbilo valley, Cato Manor, Durban, Natal.
Co-ordinates: 28 deg. 47'S, 30deg. 59'E
The quarry works Phanerozoic tillite (Dwyka series, Karroo System). Several small fissures carrying crystallised minerals are present, but the most productive area (leached of calcite) is a pyrite-rich breccia/fracture zone (coursing roughly N/S). The pyrite is unstable and yields ephemeral sulphates.
