Prenterwinkelgraben (Bärndorfer Graben), Bärndorf, Rottenmann, Liesing - Palten valley, Styria, Austria

(Prenterwinkelgraben (Bärndorfer Graben), Bärndorf, Rottenmann, Liesing-Paltental, Steiermark, Österreich)

Ancient copper and silver mining area about 1 km north of Bärndorf. Today, a concordant quartz vein zone containing various sulfides and secondary minerals is exposed in a small, cave-like adit. There are more outcrops, adits and dumps described in the area; they are, however, not easy to find. Host rocks of the mineralization are calcareous phyllitic schists. Last visit by FB: 9.9.2005.
