A former underground Pb-Cu-Zn mine located in the south-center S½S½ sec. 11, T20S, R14E, in the upper west side of the west fork of Madera Canyon, 200 feet above its bottom, at an elevation of about 6,850 feet, on National Forest land. Owned by the Tres Estados Mining Co. (1915). Mr. C.W. Curry had unspecified involvement here (1915).
Mineralization is a 4 foot wide vein of banded quartz in diorite. The croppings are mostly drusy quartz coated with limonite and psilomelane. They contain lead and copper carbonates and sulphides a foot or two below surface. The vein dips 80ºN. and is separated from the country rock by gouge.
From the north, or hanging wall, side, the vein consists of 2½ feet of crushed rock or gougelike material, lean in quartz and ore minerals; a diorite horse which begins a few feet below the surface and gradually widens to 3 feet at the bottom of the shaft; 2 feet of crudely banded quartz and crushed gougelike rock containing considerable galena and chalcopyrite and some sphalerite.
Workings include a 12 foot deep shaft and a cut terminating in a 75 foot tunnel.
