Structure: Shear Zone
Alteration: Strong; Argillic Silicic
Deposit: Workings explore a highly altered diabase dike. Wallrocks are fine-grained, altered and silicified sedimentary rocks. Crystalline cinnabar and chalcedony coat pyrite in a narrow brecciated zone in the dike. In 1929, the claim was owned by j.p. Atkinson, h. Bretchel, and c.v. Gutches, and leased to dr. Brooks and e.d. Hicks, but it was idle in 1943. There mains of a retort and a small calcine dump indicate a few flasks of production from the property. Workings consist of 2 70-ft adits connected by a 20-ft raise. Strong hydrothermal alteration in the area warrants additional mercury exploration ; info.src : 1 pub lit; 2 unpub rept
Deposit type: Hot-spring Hg
Development: Idle in 1943 and up to 1980's. The remains of a retort and a small calcine dump indicate that a few flasks were recovered from the deposit.
Geology: Crystalline cinnabar and charcedony coat pyrite in a narrow brecciated zone in the dike
Ore(s): Diabase Dike; Brecciated Zone.
