Glücksrad Mine, Oberschulenberg, Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Harz Mts, Lower Saxony, Germany

(Grube Glücksrad, Oberschulenberg, Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Harz, Niedersachsen, Deutschland)

Ancient lead and zinc mine (abandoned in 1931), working quartz veins of the Bockswiese vein system ('Bockswieser Gangzug').
Located near Oberschulenberg, 2 km west of Schulenberg and about 6 km NE of Clausthal-Zellerfeld.

Note: it seems probable that the relative mineral wealth of this mine (by comparison to closeby mines) is due to a 3-month mine fire around 1721, resulting in pseudo-firesetting assemblages. (see http://www.mineralienatlas.de/forum/index.php/topic,3084.msg158722/topicseen.html#new).
