Gebiet Faschingbauerkreuz - Reithkogel (Gießhübler Berg; Gießhübler Holzschlag), Fischbach, Fischbacher Alpen, Steiermark, Österreich
Classic lazulite locality, known since 1809, possibly since 1792 (see Taucher et al., 1995: Freßnitzgraben bei Krieglach, Steiermark, Österreich, die Typuslokalität von Lazulith. Matrix, 4, 17-27).
Accumulation of boulders of Lower Triassic quartzites (Semmering quartzite) with lazulite-bearing quartz veins and finely dispersed lazulite in quartzite. Area located ca. 1.7 km ESE Fischbach, east of the line Faschingbauerkreuz - Reithkogel Mt., at an elevation of 900-1050 m asl, stretching ca. 700 m N-S. Coordinates give the location of the point richest in lazulite at an elevation of 980 m asl. Last visit by FB: 20. September 2008.
