From a mineralogical point of view, this small glacial valley is unexplored. Infact in the past this locality was known only for its Cu mines (Lotti, 1888). Cu minerals are essentially represented by chalcopyrite with minor bornite; the quartz veins with Cu minerals are embedded in Scisti sericitici formation.
Some marble quarries are opened in this valley but the cavities in marble are very rare; however sometimes it is possible to find interesting quartz xls, up to several cm.
Only recently (spring 2003) some local collectors have found interesting samples of rutile and anatase and Mn-minerals in quartz-carbonate veins hosted in Diaspri formation. Among Mn-minerals, tinzenite is the first report for the mineralization of Nucleo Metamorfico Apuano.
