Maggie vein, Old Dominion Mine (Old Dominion shaft; Globe and Transit Mine; Old Dominion and United Globe Mine), Buffalo Hill, Old Dominion vein system, Globe, Globe Hills, Globe Hills District, Globe-Miami District, Gila Co., Arizona, USA

Latitude: 33°25'13"N
Longitude: 110°47'4"W
A former underground Cu mine located in the NW¼ sec. 24, T1N, R15E, 300 feet NW of the Josh Billings vein, on private property. Additional names which apply to this property: Patented claims MS 1107.

This vein lies about 300 feet NW of the Josh Billings vein. It is along the fault whose trace is the boundary between diabase and dacite north from the "A" shaft.

Bjorge, 1928 written communication, cites this ore body as an example of copper ore occurring below low-grade, pyrite vein matter; but he attributes the change in type of mineralization to the change in the wall rock from diabase to sedimentary rocks.

Workings first included an adit crosscut driven from a point near the outcrop of the Josh Billings vein in the bottom of the gulch 1,300 feet NNE of the "A" shaft. From this crosscut, a drift followed the vein for 650 feet northeastward, whence a crosscut was driven SE back to the Josh Billings vein. A single body of very good ore was removed from this vein per Ransome (1903).

The vein was first explored on some of the upper levels of the Old Dominion mine by means of an adit crosscut from the Josh Billings vein. Near the 16th level, the vein passes from diabase into Dripping Spring quartzite, and NW of "A" shaft between the 18th. & 20th. levels, a large body of good ore was stoped during the final years of operation. Production for this mine probably included in the production data for the Old Dominion Mine (United Globe).
