Freßnitzgraben, Krieglach, Fischbacher Alpen, Steiermark, Österreich
The first finds of lazulite in this area date back to 1783, but the mineral was confused at that time with azurite, vivianite or even feldspar. The type locality of lazulite can only broadly be given as "Freßnitzgraben". It may be "Wegscheidkreuz", but old references and old labels (and often modern labels as well ...) do only vaguely specify the locality as "Freßnitzgraben" or as "Krieglach". Moreover, lazulite is also found in transported boulders along and in the creek of Freßnitzbach stream itself, which flows into the river Mürz in the small village of Freßnitz, just west of Krieglach.
