In sec. 16, T. 3 S., R. 71 W. Follow the Golden Gate Canyon Road from Golden 11 mi to Guy Gulch on the west side of Guy Hill. Turn south on the Robinson Gulch Road; the pegmatite is exposed at the edge of the road just south of a bridge over Guy Gulch. This geological map and associated information on rock units at or nearby to the coordinates given for this locality is based on relatively small scale geological maps provided by various national Geological Surveys. This does not necessarily represent the complete geology at this locality but it gives a background for the region in which it is found.

Paleoproterozoic 1600 - 2500 Ma ID: 2443086 | Amphibolite, hornblendite, and related rocks Age: Proterozoic (1600 - 2500 Ma) Description: Dark-colored rocks composed mainly of hornblende, quartz, plagioclase, biotite, and clinopyroxene in varying amounts. Commonly consists of interlayered hornblende gneiss, amphibolite, and other gneisses, including calc-silicate gneiss. Amounts of amphibolite and hornblende in unit not uniform but always sufficient to give an unusually dark appearance. Reference: Trimble, D.E., M.N. Machette. Paleoproterozoic 1600 - 2500 Ma ID: 2832435 | Biotitic gneiss, schist, and migmatite Age: Proterozoic (1600 - 2500 Ma) Description: Locally contains minor hornblende gneiss, calc-silicate rock, quartzite, and marble. Derived principally from sedimentary rocks Lithology: Major:{biotite gneiss, schist, migmatite}, Minor:{gneiss, calc silicate schist, marble} Reference: Horton, J.D., C.A. San Juan, and D.B. Stoeser. Paleoproterozoic 1600 - 2500 Ma ID: 3186950 | Paleoproterozoic crystalline metamorphic rocks Age: Proterozoic (1600 - 2500 Ma) Lithology: Orthogneiss/paragneiss Reference: Chorlton, L.B. Paleoproterozoic 1600 - 2500 Ma ID: 2206721 | Porphyroblastic quartz-biotite-muscovite schist of White Ranch Age: Proterozoic (1600 - 2500 Ma) Description: Silvery gray schist layers composed mostly of fine- to medium-grained, foliated, locally porphyroblastic schist composed principally of quartz, biotite, and muscovite, with small amounts of sillimanite and staurolite (Wells, 1967). Porphyroblasts include andalusite, cordierite, and garnet; some andalusite crystals in central Ralston Buttes 7.5-minute quadrangle are as long as 30 cm (Sheridan and others, 1967). Where rock is relatively unstrained, original sedimentary structures (graded bedding and cross bedding) are visible. Locally contains lenses of meta-conglomerate and calc-silicate rock (Sheridan and others, 1967). U-Pb zircon ages from clasts in metaconglomerate are β1,750 Ma, which is maximum depositional age of sediments in basin that includes rocks of this unit Reference: Kellogg, K.S., Shroba, R.R., Bryant, Bruce, and Premo, W.R.
