Latitude: 33°12'27"N
Longitude: 111°9'39"W
A former surface and underground Pb-Cu-Zn-Ag-Au mine located in sec. 31, T2S, R12E, about 1¼ miles N of Bell Butte, on National Forest land. It is comprised of a group of 4 unpatented claims. Later (1948) it became part of the Mineral Mountain Mining and Milling Co. properties. Produced 1924-1963.
Mineralization is a vein deposit in a NW-trending fissure vein hosted in Madera Diorite and Pinal Schist. An associated rock unit is rhyolite. The ore zone is comprised of two parallel shear zones in rhyolite separated by a small intrusive mass of monzonite. The ore bodies are tabular, strike E-W, dip 60SW and are 9.14 meters wide. Host rock units are the Madera Diorite and Pinal Schist. The orebody is tabular.
Tertiary rhyolite and quartz latite intrusions and Precambrian diorite near and east of the mine. Madera Diorite in NW-trending outcrops. Tertiary rhyolite is at the mine and ¼ mile east.
A site visit during February, 2007, revealed the presence of a vertical shaft of unknown depth and an inclined cut into the vein. Dumps are very small. A few small pieces of galena-bearing rock are in evidence in the area. NOTE: Coordinates (shaft collar) confirmed January, 2007. Cordinates at the adit: 33°12'28.6"N, 111°09'38.8"W.
Workings include a crosscut tunnel which opens into the bottom of a small pit. The largest pit is 30 feet long, 10 feet wide, and 30 feet deep.
