The Glidden Company deposit (Glidden Barytes Mine; Glidden deposit; Loftus deposit; Loftus Mine; Marion; Barite No. 1 Mine; Barite No. 2 Mine), Castle Crag, Klamath Mts, Shasta Co., California, USA

A former baryte mine located in secs. 18 & 19, T38N, R3W, MDM, 4.7 km (2.9 miles) SE of Castle Crag, on Girard Ridge near Tom Neal Creek and in the headwaters area of Fall Creek. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.

Mineralization is a bedded baryte deposit (Deposit model Model code 212; USGS model code 31b; deposit model name: Bedded barite), hosted in slate and limestone of Devonian or Carboniferous age. The ore body is a bed. Local rocks include Devonian marine rocks, unit 2 (Eastern Klamath Mountains).

Workings include surface and underground openings.

Analytical data results: 88-96% BaSO4.
