Unnamed shipwreck off Hidra island. Stacks of pewter plates were found in the cargo. These had reacted to the sea water, and a basic tin chloride had been formed filling the space between the plates. The tin chloride was recognized as a not-yet described naturally occurring substance, but not described at the time (Griffin et al., 1977). The same mineral was later found in a shipwreck at Sharm Abhur, The Red Sea and described as a new mineral,
abhurite (Matzko et al., 1985)
