Orthopyroxenite outcrop, Laouni, Ahaggar Mts (Hoggar Mts), Tamanghasset Province, Algeria

Orthopyroxene- and cordierite-bearing granulitic rocks.

The crystallization of orthoamphibole-garnet, and at a later stage, of chlorite, is due to retrogression with hydration at 650-700ºC/3kb. This regional hydration is related with the release of fluids during the crystallization of the Pan-African granitic and mafic magmas of the Laouni area.
