MVT-type fluorite deposit with trace galena. Located about 10 km SW of Zaghouan.
Fluorite deposition in Carixian condensed layers series, during an epigenetic stage replacing dolomite and later, inside fissures and geodes. The mineralization level is an unconformity surface separating Lower Liassic limestones palaeorelief (emergence) from Carixian phosphatic limestones (both epigenitically dolomitized) and Domerian marl/limestone basin alternance.
Two stages of fluorite crystallization :
1) Main fluorite deposition (LT brine)
2) Late fluorite and quartz in fractures and vugs (HT less saline hydrothermal fluid : high geothermal gradient in extensional context and heat generation by fractures opening).
