This locality has produced good up to 3 cm large well-shaped trapezohedrons of red garnets (almandine-spessartine series).

The locality is most probably the one refered to as "a new almandine garnet locality" situated "6 km southeast of the Manandona and 30 km south of Antsirabe" by Thomas Moore in his articles "Whats new in Minerals" in The Mineralogical Record vol 28 (1997), p .60-61 & in vol 29 (1998), p 132. Many good pieces was found here in 1996.
