Andakato (Ambindandrakemba 2) thorianite deposit, Ambindandrakemba, Tranomaro Commune, Amboasary District, Anosy (Fort Dauphin) Region, Tuléar (Toliara) Province, Madagascar

A thorianite mine situated 800 m east of Ambindandrakemba about 5 km nord-east of the village Tranomaro in the southeastern part of Madagascar. Bodies of thoriante bearing pyroxenites is here traversed by plagioclasitic veins (7-8 cm) which contains crystals of spinel, hibonite, corundum and allanite. This was one of the first localities were hibonite first was found in solid rock (Delbos 1955). It had earlier been found in an eluvial deposit nearby (in 1953).
The locality has also been named as "Ambindandrakemba 2" (Behier 1960).
