The quarry is known among rockhounders as "Cava Tosca" and it is set into an ophiolitic olisthostrome mainly composed of metamorphosed lherzolite (lherzolitic serpentine) mined out in huge blocks. The minerals are found in white-to-light-green lizardite veins.
