A former dredge placer Au-PGE (Pt) mine located on the S fork of the Smith River, 2.9 km (9,700 feet) WNW of Lower Coon Mountain (coordinates of record) and 3.5 km (2.2 miles) SSE of French Hill (ppl).

Mineralization is a placer Au-PGE deposit (Deposit Model: 119), hosted in stream gravels.

Related tectonic structures include the Klamath Mountains accreted terrane.
