A former lode Au mine located in the NW¼SE¼ sec. 33, T3N, R13E, MDM, 0.7 km (0.4 mile) W of Angels Camp proper (within the city limits). Operated in the 1880's, 1897 to 1909 and 1914. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in amphibolite and schist. The ore body strikes NW and dips 80NE at a thickness of 3.66 meters. The vein averages 12 feet (3.6 meters) in thickness and is a westerly branch of the Mother Lode, a stringer lead early in 1897. The ore body was believed to be from 25 to 40 feet wide. Local rocks include undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 73.15 meters and comprised of a 240 foot shaft with levels at 100 & 200 feet and drifts 200 and 300 feet were run. An adit was run along the vein for 180 feet.
