A former lode Au-Ag mine located in the S½ (estimated) sec. 33, T3N, R11E, MDM, 3.0 km (1.8 miles) SW of Lost City at the N end of Salt Spring Valley (10 miles SSE of Valley Springs). Owned by J. T. McCarty (estate). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate, quartzite and greenstone. The ore body is tabular in form, strikes NW and dips 30E at a thickness of 5.49 meters. The vein is 2 to 18 feet thick. A second vein W dips 10W. The main vein varies from 5½ to 8 feet on the 100 foot level and from 12 to 18 feet on the 200 foot level. The quartz ledge is stratified with slate and quartzite. The ore was free-milling above 100 feet of depth and largely sulfides on the 200 foot level. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall depth of 102.11 meters. There are 2 shafts on the main vein 400 feet apart. The N shaft is 200 feet deep and the S shaft is 335 feet deep. They are connected on the 100 foot level. Also drifts were driven on the 100, 220 and 300 foot levels. The second vein was mined by open pit and a 200 foot inclined shaft.

Production data are found in: Clark, Wm. B. & P.A. Lydon (1962).

No other production record was found.

Anlytical data results: 1936 samples: $4.20 (period values) Au/ton.
