A former lode Au mine located in the SW¼ (estimated) sec. 23, T2N, R13E, MDM, 1.0 km (0.6 mile) WSW of Melones (site), and about 2.3 km S of Carson Hill (town) (4¼ miles SSE of Angels Camp). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in phyllite and greenstone. The ore body strikes NW and dips NE (on the Mother Lode). Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains) and/or pre-Cenozoic metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks undivided.

Workings include underground openings.

Long idle.
