A former silica-sand & gravel operation/pit located in the SE¼ sec. 5, T1N, R1E, MDM, 0.2 km (0.1 mile; 700 feet) W of Nortonville, on the Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve. Operated by the Silver Sand Company (1957-). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Mined and processed sand over a period of nearly 25 years. Worked for sand during the period 1925 tgo 1949 by the Columbia Steel Company, Roberts, et al. Operations were suspended in November, 1949. It was reopened by Silver Sand Company in 1957.

Local rocks include Eocene marine rocks.

Workings include unspecified surface openings.

Total production amounted to 367,543 tons of sand valued at $1,347,630 (period values).
