A former Cr occurrence/mine located in the E½ sec. 23, T12N, R9E, MDM, 2.7 km (1.7 miles) SSE of Penobscot Farm, along a south-flowing tributary of Greenwood Creek, W of Greenwood Creek (about 2 miles SW of Greenwood), on private land. Operated by D. O. Niegel. Operated during the period 1916 to 1918. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.

Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of open cuts and a shaft.

About 250 tons of ore were mined (1916-1918). The ore was alleged to have 35 to 41% chromite, depending on the care with which it was sorted. It was believed that the chances for discovering other ore bodies were favorable.
