A suspected placer Au occurrence/prospect located in sec. 5 (or 6), T10N, R11E, MDM, about 2 km NNW of Placerville proper, at the mouth of Big Canyon. Prospected around 1919. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings. The site was prospected by a 400 foot inclined shaft and a 500 foot drift driven in an attempt to find gravel.
