Manganese was mined in this area around WWII. Barite veins are common in the main pits and also in many prospects and outcrops around the area.

Reef limestone hydrothermally mineralized by Mn-oxides and barite. Manganese occurs as thin layers, as cement of sandstone and as metasomatic replacement of the limestone, including abundant fossil shells.
