A former Au-Cu mine located in the E½NW¼ sec. 23, T21S, R40E, MDM, 5.5 km (3.4 miles) N of Louisiana Butte (coordinates of record), on military reservation land (China Lake Naval Ordnance Test Station). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit with a vein 4 feet thick, hosted in diorite. The ore body strikes NE and dips 20SE at a thickness of 1.22 meters. A 3 inch stringer in the hanging wall was said to have averaged $45 in Au (period values). Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of 150 feet of trenching plus 3 shafts from 8 to 16 feet deep.
No specific production record was found.
