A former W mine located in the NEΒΌ sec. 22, and in secs. 23 & 26, T8S, R31E, MDM, 2.2 km (1.4 miles) SW of Lookout Mountain (coordinates of record), on the N end of Coyote Ridge, on the divide between the Middle Fork and Western Fork Bishop Creek, in the Sierra Nevada. on National Forest land. Operated during the period 1941-1943. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in hornfels. The ore body is tabular in form. The surface is mantled with sand and soil. The outcrop of the ore is only a few feet in diameter. The inclusion is probably capped by granite with its dimentions increase diownward. Masses of scheelite occur up to 6 inches, or more, in size. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Local geologic structures include numerous faults.
Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall depth of 42.67 meters and comprised of an open pit 85 feet wide, 110 feet long, and 45 feet deep plus an inclined shaft sunk 140 feet beneath the pit. It has 150m feet of workings at then 65 foot level.
Production information: 107,000 tons of ore.
Analytical data results: Ore gave an average of 1.5% WO3.
