A former lode Au occurrence/mine located allegedly in sec. 35, T27S, R40E, MDM, about 9.3 km SSE of Ridgecrest, . The property comprises 3 claims. Owner Harry F. Willey, Inyokern, Calif. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10,000 meters (sic). First developed in the early 1900's. The reported section is questionable.
Mineralization is hosted in granite and diorite. The ore body is lenticular in form, strikes N50E and dips 65SE at a thickness of 1.22 meters. The vein has short ore shoots, a few inches to 4 feet in thickness. The vein was reported to be stronger in the last 30 feet of the shaft near the tunnel portal. Controls for ore emplacement involved the intersections of the vein cutting the diorite dike. Local geologic structures include a series of diorite dikes. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 30.48 meters and comprised of a 200 foot tunnel on the vein, 2 twenty foot winzes, and a 100 foot shaft at the face of the tunnel plus another shaft at the portal at 100 feet deep.
Good values were reported to occur in lenticular ore shoots.
