A former Au-Ag occurrence/mine located in sec. 25, T29S, R40E, MDM, 0.8 km (0.5 mile) NNW of Johannesburg and 2.1 km (1.3 miles) NE of Randsburg. The property is comprised of 7 claims covering 140 acres. Owned by Operator Consolidated Mines, San Francisco, California. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.

Mineralization is hosted in schist, diabase and rhyolite. The ore body is lenticular in form, strikes NE and dips 20NE at a thickness of 3.66 meters. There are 5 veins at 2 to 12 feet in thickness. In places, along the vein walls, rhyolite and diabase dikes occur. Veions have well-developed hanging walls, which commonly grade. Local alteration includes oxidation. Local rocks include schist of various types and ages, unit 2 (Southern and West-central California).

Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 91.44 meters. The Phoenix vein was developed by an incline with 6 levels and 2,000 feet of drifts. The Styx claim has a 400 foot crosscut to the vein with a 100 foot ore shoot, 6 to 12 feet wide, and finger winzes.

Free-milling ore. Figure from the Phoenix Mine: 35,000 tons of ore. The Operator Divide Mine tailings dump at Johannesburg was treated, where 3,500 tons yielded $2 (period values) Au/ton.

Analytical data results: Values vary from a few dollars to $25 (period values) Au/ton.
