Pein-Pyit (Painpyit; Pyan Pyit), Mogok Township, Pyin-Oo-Lwin District, Mandalay Division, Burma (Myanmar)

The principle rocks are: granite pegmatite, leucogranite, spinel-clinohumite-phlogopite marble, chondrodite-phlogopite-graphite marble and spinel-bearing & forsterite marble, apatite-phlogopite-diopside marble and gneiss. In this area skarns, contact zones, sinkholes and basins are found. Most of the gems found in the Pein-Pyit general area are spinels, and most of them mined from the alluvium using open-pit, lebin, myaw-dwin and other mining methods. - Ted Themelis (2008) Gems and Mines of Mogok
