A former lode Au-Pb mine located in the SW¼ sec. 13, T5S, R18E, MDM, 1.3 km (4,300 feet) NE of Mariposa, along Stockton Creek (on the SW slope of Kanes Hill at the junction of Stockton Creek & Rocky Gulch). Operated during the period 1938-1940. Operated by Mariposa Commercial and Mining Co. C/O Eileen Milburn. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. May be the prospect shown in the SW¼ sec. 13, Mariposa quadrangle topo map (1947).
Mineralization is a laminated quartz vein deposit hosted in pyroxenite, andesite, greenstone, serpentinite and granite. The ore body strikes N20W and dips SW steeply, at a thickness of 1.22 meters and a width of 396.24 meters. Granitic dikes occur. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains) and/or ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface and underground openings with a total length of 97.54 meters and an overall depth of 30.48 meters. There are numerous surface cuts on the vein outcrop, a 170 foot adit and a 50 foot shaft.
