A placer Au occurrence located in sec. 26, T3S, R16E, MDM, about 3.2 miles WSW of Buckhorn Peak, on the Merced River near its confluence with Whites Gulch. Property consisted of an unpatented claim. Operated by G. D. Winder. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. This locality may now be inundated beneath Lake McClure (Exchequer Reservoir). May be one of the prospects shown in the E½ near the center of sec. or near the N¼ (sic) corner on USGS quadrangle Coulterville, California (1949).
Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
