A Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 20, T4S, R17E, MDM (the sec. boundary is the approximate location but is accurate according to the latitude), 0.8 km (2,600 feet) ENE of Bear Valley (in Oso Gulch ½ mile W and slightly S of Bear Valley). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. A former Las Mariposas grant mine. Present ownership not determined.

Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include underground openings comprised of a shaft 50 feet deep and 7 feet wide.

According to a report in 1868, about $400,000 (period values) was taken from the shaft. Last activity was in 1906, producing 7.85 tons of ore yielding $164.02, or an average of $20.91 per ton (period values).
