A vein deposit. The main vein is on the same system that extends from the Milburn Mine N to the Nutmeg. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of a 70 foot shaft on the W vein, a 70 foot shaft with a 500 foot drift on the center (main) vein, and a 74 foot shaft on the E vein.

The Bulldog operated in 1890 producing a few tons of low-grade ore. This mine operated intermittently under various names up to the present time. A small production was recorded in the 1930's and late 1940's. From the period 1898-1900 a total of 241.87 ounces of Au was produced from 28 tons of ore.

In 1935 the ore averaged $14 to $20 per ton. The mine was fully equipped in 1954 but no one was on the property and the equipment was not accessible. A small production of Au & Ag was reeported in 1954 (USBM Minerals Yearbook 1954: 64).
