Latitude: 38°32'21"N
Longitude: 122°24'24"W
A former Mn mine located in sec. 15, T8N, R5W, MDM, 5.5 km (3.4 miles) SE of Angwin. Located on Manganese Ridge, a spur of the main ridge that separates Conn Valley and Moore Creek. Operated by C.E. Wolcott.
Mineralization is a Mn deposit with ore lenses hosted in rocks of the Franciscan Complex (thin-bedded red radiolarian chert and shale). The ore is in close association with thick beds of massive red jasper lenses in thin-bedded chert. Ore varies from manganiferous chert to manganese oxide with small amount of silica. The main ore was found deep in the workings and is a red-brown granular material, which oxidizes upon exposure.
Workings include an open cut and a tunnel.
Production was 150 to 999 tons. Property has produced about 300 tons of ore. Average grade was 44% Mn and 19% silica.
