Powers prospect, Spanish Flat, Napa Co., California, USA

A Mn occurrence/prospect located in the S½ sec. 29, T8N, R4W, MDM, 9.2 km (5.7 miles) WSW of Spanish Flat. Located on the W side of the ridge just W of Chiles Valley, about 200 yards W of the ridge summit; 10 miles by road to Rutherford. Operated by G.B. Powers.

Mineralization is a 10 foot thick ore zone is enclosed in, and parallel to, the bedding of pink to red, thin-bedded radiolarian chert, which strikes N50W and dips 20 to 40 SW. The ore zone is lenticular beds, short lenses and nodules of Mn ore and chert, separated by shale partings and fillings. The primary ore is a mixture of chalcedonic silica and mabnganese oxides.

Assays at Mn 17.8% and silica 66.9%. No production.
