A Cr occurrence/mine located in the NE¼ sec. 7, T16N, R11E, MDM, 0.7 km (0.4 mile) NNW of Negro Jack Hill coordinates of record), along the E canyon wall of Steephollow Creek, on National Forest land. Owned by the Swedish-American Bank (1918- ). Operated by E. I. Bartholomew and William Simms, lessees. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
This Cr deposit appeared to be a single ore body dipping about 60E. The ore, about 2 feet wide, was exposed in the backs and floors of both adits for their entire length. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of 2 adits, one at 18 feet and the other at 20 feet long.
About 15 long tons of development ore had been mined by September, 1918, but none had been shipped. It was estimated that the deposit should yield 100 to 200 long tons of ore but no shipments were recorded and it is possible that the ore may still remain on the property.
