A former lode Au occurrence/mine located about 5½ km (3.3 miles) SW of Grass Valley and about 3.5 km WNW of La Barr Meadows, in the headwaters area of Clear Creek, on the NW slope of American Ranch Hill. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is not stated.

Mineralization is hosted in diabase and diorite. The ore body strikes N and dips 65W. The hanging wall is calcareous diabase and the footwall is diorite. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 51.82 meters and comprised of an incline with 2 levels.
