A former lode Au-Ag occurrence/mine located in the S½ sec. 16, T12N, R8E, MDM, 1.5 km (1.0 mile) SSW of Auburn, on the E ridge of Baltimore Ravine, S of Interstate highway 80, between the 2 lines of the Southern Pacific Railroad (1½ miles ESE of Ophir). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.

Mineralization is a vein deposit (California-Crandell vein (California-Crandall vein; California vein)). The ore body strikes E and dips 40S at a thickness of 0.61 meter. The vein is 1 to 2 feet thick. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges) and/or Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall length of 30.48 meters.
