A former lode Au-Ag occurrence/mine located in the NE¼ (estimated) sec. 34, T13N, R8E, MDM, 3.4 km (2.1 miles) ESE of Elders Corner, N of Rock Creek and the Southern Pacific Railroad and NW of the Ackerman School (1 mile N of Auburn). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Clark (1970a) lists this mine under the Ophir District as the "Rock Creek."
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in amphibolite. The ore body strikes NW and dips 70SW. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
